Some of my students tell me that they feel nervous during their calls, especially if they’re new to investing. They wonder what they can do to feel less nervous or perhaps even desperate.
This is a good question because you want to learn how to come across as calm and collected. You want to emit the vibe of confidence whether you’re new or youve been doing this for ten years.
A great way to come across as calm is to focus your energy on the seller. You automatically start asking them questions to gather information about their home. Why are they selling their home? How long have they been trying? What are they planning on doing after they sell the home? Rent? Buy something else? What’s the number they’re asking for?
See, when you’re focusing on them, you’re less likely to be worried about how you’re coming across. You’re listening more than talking, and this can help calm your nerves and it certainly lets the seller feel like you’re genuinely interested in helping them.
If you go into the conversation only talking about you, what you do, how many people you’ve helped, etc., then you might sound a bit over-confident and maybe even desperate. You want the conversation to flow well, and that begins with you digging a little bit to get some details from them.
Focus On Helping
When you can keep your focus on problem-solving for the seller, you’re more apt to feel calm. After all, it feels good to solve problems for others, right? How many times have you fixed something or solved some issue and the other person went crazy with gratitude? To know that your services actually help sellers with their stress levels because of their home situation – perhaps facing foreclosure – feels pretty darn good!
Practice Brings Ease
The more you engage with potential sellers, the better you’ll get at navigating the conversations. And, the more confident you become, the more peace you should feel during calls. It’s like anything. The more you practice, the better you get. The better you get, the more confident you feel. The more confident you feel, the more peaceful you feel. There’s no doubt if you keep practicing if you keep making those calls and engaging with sellers, the more peaceful you’ll feel while talking to them.
Learn As You Go
You’ll also learn a lot along the way. You’ll learn what to say and what not to say. You’ll learn a lot about responding to seller objections or concerns. If you study my materials or jump on a tele-coaching call, you’ll learn valuable tips and techniques for getting the most out of every call.
I know in today’s age, not everyone is keen on speaking on the telephone, but mainly it’s just that people get out of practice. So, if you’re feeling anxious, keep these tips in mind and simply make the effort to practice as often as you can.
