Little KnownAcquiring a solid lead in real estate can be challenging if you’re not sure what you’re doing. Primarily, this is because the approach that many people take is an amateur one. Struggling with getting leads on a daily basis as an investor can be frustrating.

The truth is, generating leads is quite easy if you avoid some of the most common mistakes people tend to make. If you can bypass such mistakes, you can effectively compete in your market.

  1. No personal, functional website

One common mistake that amateur real estate investors make is not having a professional website. In an attempt to save money, the investors end up not having an online presence at all. The problem is that many of these amateurs have no idea how big of a role a website plays in attracting leads. As an investor, your professionalism can be enhanced by having a good-looking site with plenty of traffic being pointed to it.

  1. Lack of online presence

As a real estate investor, don’t just stop at a having a website. To come out on top of the local competition, enlarge your internet presence by using business resources like LinkedIn, and social media pages, like Facebook. Also consider putting ads on Google, so that when people are searching keywords like, “FSBO” or “selling my home fast”, your name is more likely to pop up in the search results via an ad. You’d be surprised how many leads you can acquire by having a large online presence.

  1. Lack of business cards

Take the time to have business cards created, so you can leave them with those you meet. You can also leave them at various places of business around town, as they can function as a short intro about who you are and what services you provide.  With business cards, you won’t miss out an opportunity to promote your business. By handing out your card to as many people as possible, you will be able to generate more leads.

  1. Not putting the time and effort in

Getting leads takes time and effort, so if you skimp on these, you’re obviously going to be lacking in leads. If you’re strapped for time or just don’t want to be the one in charge of getting leads, then hire a professional to do this for you.  The investment will be worth it, because as a property investor that helps motivated sellers get their homes sold, you need leads to find such motivated sellers.  Put the time and effort in, and you’ll be more likely to see favorable results.

As you can tell from the points mentioned above, getting leads can be easier if you learn about and avoid common mistakes. And, over time you’ll learn what works and what doesn’t, as with any business endeavor. To see success, stick to what works, and avoid or change what doesn’t.
