No matter how amazing your life is going right now (and I do hope it is ultra-amazing), chances are you may encounter some tension or stress at times during your days. Whether your stress stems from your personal or professional life, knowing how to de-stress can help you feel better mentally, emotionally, and physically.
This is my hope for you – that you can live your life feeling peaceful and harmonious, knowing how to tackle stressful situations as they come. Take note of the following things you can do throughout your days to increase your chances of breathing freely, feeling peaceful and serene.
- Meditate
The science is there to indicate that regular silence or meditation helps reduce anxiety and stress. Even if you simply take ten minutes and meditate, you’ll notice that your stress level drops quite a bit. Sit quietly, take several deep breaths, and then focus on your inhale and exhale. If you want, envision beautiful scenery, like seagulls flying at the beach or you in your lounge chair at the beach listening to the waves crash and smelling the wonderful ocean breeze. Recite a positive affirmation, such as, “I am free and happy. I am being refreshed mind, body, and soul. Life is so good!”
- Positive Affirmations
It is important to have a positive attitude in life. It starts with believing that you will make it despite the odds. Believe that every minute is meant to be enjoyed. Believe that you have what it takes to be successful. Write down some positive affirmations and recite them daily. Try these:
- I am experiencing great success in my career. Each year is better and better.
- I am very creative and my talents help me rise in my career.
- I am well able to contend with conflict and/or stress that arises in my life.
- I am living in abundance in every area of my life!
- Have a Checklist
Always have a list that guides you throughout the day. It may be a simple paper pinned on your desk or tucked inside your briefcase. By looking at it on a daily basis, you will be able to stay on track so that you don’t stress out about things. As you complete the tasks on your list, cross them off. It will feel wonderful!
- Eat Healthy Snacks
Rather than consuming highly processed and sugary snacks throughout the day, it is better to eat healthy snacks that contain high fiber-content and protein. Heading to the office or running errands? It is better to grab non-processed foods from home like fruit or hummus and carrots, instead of eating or drinking from the vending machine or popping into a fast-food place.
- Manage Your Work Hours
There are some people who feel pressured to put in a lot of extra hours at work. At times this may be necessary in order to meet a deadline or finish a pending task. However, it shouldn’t become a habit. We desire and train you to work less AND make more money, because you’re working smarter – not necessarily harder.
- Keep The Drama Out
Commit to keeping the drama out of your life. This means staying away from those that bring you down or somehow always manage to bring drama to your world. When you’re caught up in drama, you’re wasting valuable time and bringing stress to your life. You might not be able to keep yourself in a drama-free bubble, but you can spend less and less time with those that keep the drama fueled and ready to fire.
- Embrace the Culture of Saving
Keep growing your savings, retirement, and real estate investments. You’ll feel less stress and anxiety when you’re financial picture is looking pretty good.
- Deep Breathing Daily
Breathing deeply takes away a whole load of stress. Do this while you are sending emails, driving the streets, before a meeting with a client, and well, anytime! Besides decreasing stress and increasing your energy levels, it also increases brain function.
- Start with the Difficult Tasks First
Beginning with the most difficult tasks of your day reduces stress. You will be more energetic and will also have more time to handle it. It also minimizes procrastination that usually occurs when a person finds a task too demanding. When you do this, you’ll find yourself feeling much lighter at the end of the day.
- Set aside a Stress-free Day
Set aside a day when you choose to be stress-free. On this day, you will only focus on issues that bring you joy and happiness. You’ll mentally put any worries in an imaginary box and close it up. Let it go for a day and do whatever you want, not allowing yourself to open that “worry box” at all. A stress-free day! You may find out that you desire more and more days like that!
Conclusion
Life in general can be stressful at times, so knowing how to contend with such stress will make you feel more at peace and happier. Take these tips into consideration as you go about your daily schedule and enjoy a stress-free life as much as possible.
